Speaking Model 3
*The examiner will ask you to show your ID. Besides, the previous questions could be rephrased in different ways. In essence, they will request this information from you.
Can you spell your family name for me, please?
……………………………………………………………………………………….
Thank you. Where are you from?
……………………………………………………………………………………….
Part 1 (3 minutes)
Examiner: I’m going to ask you some questions about yourself and your ideas.
*The examiner can ask you from 3 to 5 questions depending on the length of your answer. Keep talking until they tell you to stop or calculate your answer to be around 30 seconds. The questions will not be displayed on the screen. You will not see the timer on the screen, so time management is intuitive.
Literature: If you wrote a novel, what would it be about?
……………………………………………………………………………………….
Physical appearance: Is there something immoral about cosmetic surgery?
……………………………………………………………………………………….
Fashion: Should we try to buy clothes that have been made following ethical standards?
……………………………………………………………………………………….
Part 2 (3 minutes)
Examiner: We are going to role-play some situations. I want you to start or respond.
*Approximately two turns each. Interact with the examiner and ask them questions.
1) I’m your boss. I’ve decided to promote you as Head of Department. I start.
2) We’re classmates. I have asked you to review my project, now you have to give me some feedback. You start.
Part 3 (4 minutes)
Apparently, there are two ways in which you could be asked to do this task. The first one is to pick 3 bubbles and speak about them; the second one is to debate about some of the bubbles with the proctor, agreeing and disagreeing. Let’s practise both ways.
You have 20 seconds in which to look at this part and think about what to say.

Part 4 (5 minutes including follow-up questions)
Examiner: In Part Four you are going to talk about something for two minutes. Your topic is ‘the elephant in the room’. You have 30 seconds to write some notes to help you.
*In Part Four you can have a piece of paper and a pencil to write. The examiner will ask you, at least, one follow-up question.
Speak about something that is the elephant in the room in your country for 2 minutes.

Follow-up question: Should topics such as politics and religion be tackled more often?
