Speaking Model 8
*The examiner will ask you to show your ID. Besides, the previous questions could be rephrased in different ways. In essence, they will request this information from you.
Can you spell your family name for me, please?
……………………………………………………………………………………….
Thank you. Where are you from?
……………………………………………………………………………………….
Part 1 (3 minutes)
Examiner: I’m going to ask you some questions about yourself and your ideas.
*The examiner can ask you from 3 to 5 questions depending on the length of your answer. Keep talking until they tell you to stop or calculate your answer to be around 30 seconds. The questions will not be displayed on the screen. You will not see the timer on the screen, so time management is intuitive.
Daily life: In your opinion, why are morning routines so popular on YouTube?
……………………………………………………………………………………….
New technologies: Are we losing our ability to focus because of technology?
……………………………………………………………………………………….
Education: Do you think college pranks should be forbidden?
……………………………………………………………………………………….
Part 2 (3 minutes)
Examiner: We are going to role-play some situations. I want you to start or respond.
*Approximately two turns each. Interact with the examiner and ask them questions.
1) I’m your teacher. ‘You’re a brilliant student, but your marks have lowered lately. Are you alright?’ I start.
2) We’re both strangers and tourists. You want to know the best way to move around the city. You start.
Part 3 (4 minutes)
Apparently, there are two ways in which you could be asked to do this task. The first one is to pick 3 bubbles and speak about them; the second one is to debate about some of the bubbles with the proctor, agreeing and disagreeing. Let’s practise both ways.
You have 20 seconds in which to look at this part and think about what to say.

Part 4 (5 minutes including follow-up questions)
Examiner: In Part Four you are going to talk about something for two minutes. Your topic is Olympic Games: are they a waste of money? You have 30 seconds to write some notes to help you.
*In Part Four you can have a piece of paper and a pencil to write. The examiner will ask you, at least, one follow-up question.
Speak about whether the Olympic Games are a waste of money for 2 minutes.

Follow-up question: Do professional sportsmen and sportswomen suffer too much pressure?
